We aim to make children confident and independent learners and provide many opportunities for students to demonstrate what they have learned. Learning at RIS is generally inquiry-based, where students are encouraged to identify pertinent questions and construct well-informed answers. The fundamental skills of reading, writing, listening, speaking and mathematics are the focuses of our curriculum.
English Language Arts
Our curriculum recognizes that language is basic to thinking and learning in all cultures, just as thinking is central to all modes of language use. The purpose of the language arts curriculum is to guide the continuous growth and development of students’ thinking and language abilities from kindergarten onward. The study of language arts enables students to understand and appreciate language and to use it in a variety of situations for communication and learning.

The program is intended to stimulate the spirit of inquiry by developing a variety of problem-solving skills and abilities.
Science
The science program develops and builds on students’ sense of wonder about the world around them and encourages a feeling of responsibility to look after it. The program also encourages participation and the development of skills, methods and knowledge through exciting hands-on activities and engaging content resources. The students are exposed to scientific thinking by studying the basic concepts encompassed in life science, physical science and earth science.
Turkish as a Second Language
The Turkish curriculum is focused on communication through listening, speaking, reading, and writing so that students will become confident and competent Turkish users. Art
Education in the arts is essential to each student’s intellectual, social, physical and emotional growth. Through the study of the arts, students develop the ability to think creatively and critically. In addition, the creative and practical work encourages students to express themselves in both verbal and non-verbal ways and can enable them to discover and develop abilities that can be beneficial later in life.
Library
Our school library program is an integral part of the total educational program, teaching students the basic processing skills necessary to connect them with information and ideas in all subject and interest areas. Computer Science
The main purpose of the computer program is to integrate the use of computers into the curriculum. This integration occurs at all grade levels but on different levels of sophistication.
