R.I.S. is offering an international elementary curriculum from grades 1 to 5 and a middle school curriculum from grades 6 to 8. Children are allocated to classes on the basis of their age (social promotion) and academic level. As our teachers are experienced and fully trained they can provide individual learning within the classroom.

The school provides the basic curricula: science, mathematics, English, social studies, physical education, library, Korean language, art, music and Turkish as a second language as well as extra-curricular activities so that the students have a full, rounded education. Our academic aim is to prepare the students for the upper school and then for universities – mostly overseas institutions.

The elementary and middle school years are unique and very precious.  These years form the rest of their life. While the children are with us at this age we ensure they learn all that is needed to enter the middle and high schools.  This is achieved by close monitoring by the teachers and heads of departments.

Elementary and Middle School children are also full of energy.  One of their most important learning styles is moving (kinesthetic) – therefore our classes will include activity learning.  Excellence is developed in an environment that is exciting and innovative.  Children will move from the kindergarten setting to one that includes group work, cooperative learning and individual teaching with attention to using all the learning styles in the classroom.

Children of this age are passionate about ‘fairness’ and we will encourage this to make them aware of the needs of others in their own classroom, school, local communities, the environment and the world.

We cannot emphasize enough how much children learn through speaking English.  As you will know, many people from different countries can read, write and understand English yet feel hesitant to speak the language. By using all the strategies above in our teaching, children will become confident speakers of English as well.

Although the focus is academic we will also reward kindness, persistence, courage, thinking of others first and respect for their families, teachers and other important people in their lives.  We are educating for good citizenship.
