|
ESL Stream program is for the students who have a little or no English background. After the admission application of the student is accepted, the student has an interview with her corresponding classroom teacher and ESL specialist. The teachers decide if the student needs to take ESL Stream classes or not. Students in ESL Stream do not attend regular elementary classes such as science, math, social studies. These students start the day with their classmates and attend the first period of Language Arts and from the 2nd period to the 6th period (for 5 periods) they have all day long individual based ESL classes with an ESL specialist and ESL assistant teacher. The basic curriculum of ESL Stream is based on phonics, listening, speaking, reading comprehension and writing skills. At the end of every quarter, ESL specialist and the student’s classroom teacher decided whether the student is good to join his/her classroom or not.
