Accountability is essential for success. RIS has two excellent accreditations which reflects the high standards placed on teachers and students.

Keeping our vision and mission close in mind, our specific school-wide teaching and learning goals are a forethought before the school year begins and continuously referenced throughout the year to maintain the highstandards, for which we strive here at RIS.

Knowledge, skills, and understanding are meticulously examined to allow for consistent incorporation of culturally relevant and diverse information in each lesson. To challenge our students, all teachers use Bloom’s Taxonomy when developing lessons, units, and assessments. Also, through the integration of technology, RIS students are learning to become global leaders through the application of 21st century skills.

Students must be actively engaged in their learning to ensure consistent  retention and skill ability. Through our teaching we hope our students to:
✦ Be technologically capable and explorative
✦ Understand diversity and respect other cultures
✦ Develop positive character traits
✦ Create connections between different units’ Big Ideas and their world (family, friends, community) around them
✦ Communicate clearly and effectively in various forms (writing, orally, etc.)
✦ Expand creative and critical thinking skills
✦ Actively reflect on their own learning
✦ Possess strong inquiry skills to facilitate an understanding of various angles and/or perspectives

Education is a universal right for every individual. Equitable access to learning is based on the students identified areas of strength, improvement, and personal goals. The combination of all the following elements ensures that equity which we are consistently working towards.
✦ Differentiation in application, assessment, etc. to meet the individual needs of our learners
✦  Experienced based learning
✦  Promoting an academic environment that facilitates educational growth
✦ Varied instructional formats (direct, indirect, interactive, independent study)
✦ Students’ understanding of their learning abilities based on multiple intelligences
✦ Modeling lifelong learning through various student programs (Character Education, Workshop Models, E.C.’s, etc.)
✦ High order thinking as a foundation for lesson development and student application
✦ Child developmental stages referenced for curriculum/unit planning formation
